Dr. John J. Sviokla is vice chairman, global managing director of innovation and research, directs the firm's think tank -- the DiamondExchange -- and is a member of firm's Board of Directors (NASDAQ: DTPI).

John works with a variety of clients as a knowledge leader in strategy and marketing.

He most recent research initiatives include the Diamond Digital IQ Study (with Chris Curran & Caroline Calkins), Diamond's Recession Study (with Paul Blase & Anand Rao), and is starting a piece of research that looks into improving the design of high value added knowledge work.

Recent client work includes completing a global social media strategy for a Fortune 500 company; crafting a product/market strategy for a leading financial services institution; birthing a new product - called the investor network; guiding a product strategy in the identity space for a major credit bureau, and helping to build a services strategy for a large physician organization.

Prior to joining Diamond, John was a professor at the Harvard Business School for 12 years. In this capacity, he authored more than 100 articles, cases, videos, teleseminars and edited numerous books. His seminal articles in the Harvard Business Review, "Managing in the Marketspace" and "Exploiting the Virtual Value Chain," were among the first harbingers of the growth of the Internet world. John has a regular blog at the Harvard Business Review (discussionleader.hbsp.com/sviokla). He is, and has been, on the editorial boards of many journals; has consulted to large and small firms around the world, and lectures at many institutions including Northwestern, Oxford, and MIT. John is also an active speaker for conventions and companies on many topics including innovation, competition, and leadership.

John earned his Bachelor of Arts ('79) from Harvard College with high honors from the Visual and Environmental Studies Department. He completed is his Master of Business Administration ('83) with distinction and Doctor of Business Administration ('86) with a major in management information systems both from Harvard Business School.
